Arrival of ship “Dalmacija“ on Thursday, March 27, 2008 signifies commencement of cruising season at the port of Ploče, as a continuation of activities undertaken during last two years. On this occasion, representatives of Port of Ploče Authority visited the ship and handed suitable gifts to the ship’s command.
From March 27 through November 11, 2008, the port is set to host 57 cruise ships on their cruise through the Adriatic. During this period, under arrangement with shipping agency “Jadroagent”, the only Croatian cruiser “Dalmacija” will be berthed 33 times alongside the passenger quay, while m/b “Arion” will be berthed 16 times and m/b “To Callisto” twice. Compared to the last year, new ships will be m/b “Monet” (3 calls), m/b “Wind Surf” (2 calls) and m/b “Wind Star” (1 call). It is expected that these ships will carry aboard almost 10,000 passengers and crew members, which is going to significantly increase passenger traffic in the statistics of the Port of Ploče Authority, and contribute to improved aesthetics of the city of Ploče.
