During the celebration ceremony of 10th anniversary of the PPA’s operation, Mr. Tomislav Batur, Executive Director of the PPA and Mr. Željko Žderić, Director of „Konstruktor - inženjering“ d.d. Split, signed the Contract for the construction of the Multipurpose/Container terminal in the port of Ploče (Phase I).
In accordance with the procedures of the World Bank, which has granted the loan for this project, the PPA implemented public international bidding for selection of the Contractor for the construction of M/C terminal. In the competition among reputable global firms from People’s Republic of China, Belgium, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia, „Konstruktor- inženjering“d.d. has been selected as the most favourable evaluated contractor, who submitted the lowest financial proposal and satisfied technical criteria from the bidding documents. The value of contracted works amounts EUR 34,4 million, and completion date is two (2) years. After the construction of the Phase I, M/C terminal will provide storage capacities for 60.000 TEU, and new quay in the length of 280 meters will be constructed. Except investments in the infrastructure, significant investments of the operator in handling equipment and mechanization will be necessary. This will provide the port of Ploče more adequate response to continuous growth of container traffic that is going to be increased during the current year for approximately 70% compared to the previous year.
