The Port of Ploče Authority celebrates 10th anniversary of operation this year. During the ceremony that was held on November 30, 2007 recapitulation of the PPA’s operation so far was carried out and development plans of the port were presented with a focus on implementation of Trade and Transport Integration Project. Mr. Tomislav Batur, Executive Director of the PPA, stressed the most important projects in which the PPA was engaged, including reconstruction of the port’s operative quays and significant investments in the port infrastructure. The evidence of continuous traffic growth of the port’s traffic, especially the container traffic, was stressed with satisfaction, and for this year the port of Ploče estimated throughput of over 4,3 million tons, which is at the level of record years during the end of 80s in the last century. As a response to forecasts of significant increase of demand for port capacities in the following years, the PPA will make infrastructure investments for the construction of the Multipurpose/Container and Bulk Cargo terminal through development projects, which is going to contribute to greater competitiveness of the port of Ploce.
In the presence of representatives of the government, county and town’s authorities, business partners and other guests, acknowledgments were given to individuals, institutions, firms and employees of the PPA for their contributions in development of this public institution that is taking care of management of the port area in Ploce and Metkovic.
