This project was implemented as a result of the investments of the Port of Ploce Authority in the scope of its security policy, which is based upon international and national regulations governing the safety of ships and port areas, issue which is now highly sensitive.
The monitoring, control and supervision of the traffic of vessels within the area of responsibility of the Port of Ploce Authority through the intermediary of the Port Control Center are also provided for in the scope of this system, which results in maximum maritime traffic safety and regulation, environmental protection against pollution as well as timely response of all maritime services such as mooring, tugboats, pilotage and other.
The premises of the services controlling the circulation of persons, vehicles and commodities through the Port of Ploce, as a permanent international maritime border crossing of Category I, were also modernly fitted and reconstructed in the scope of this investment.
These systems will produce full effects upon their final integration with the Port Information System (PCS), which will be developed in the scope of the TTI development project to be implemented by the Port of Ploce Authority pursuant to a Loan Agreement with the World Bank and a guarantee of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. This PCS system, which is highly complex and demanding in terms of concept and objectives, will enable the electronic connection and exchange of information between all members of the port community, which will result in increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of both the port and the whole traffic route through Ploce.
