Port of Ploce concluded 2011 with throughput of 4.430.793 tons. This represents approximately one hundred thousand tons of handled goods or two percent less than in the previous year.

The 1st February 2011 will enter the history of the port of Ploce as an important day because it was the first time the container ship moored at newly built container terminal.

In 2010 the port of Ploce has reached throughput of 4.529.826 tons, which represents an increase by 58 percent compared to the previous year when global economic trends had a negative impact on all sea ports.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Jadranka Kosor on August 18, 2010 officially opened the Container terminal in the port of Ploce.

Due to negative global economic trends, the port of Ploce throughput fall in 2009, like in other world ports, was significant compared to 2008.

Dr. Bernd Fischer, Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to Croatia visited the port of Ploce on May 07, 2009. During the meeting with Mr. Tomislav Batur, the Executive director of the Port of Ploce Authority and Mr. Ivan Pavlović, the Director of Luka Ploce d.d.,

2008 will be recorded as the year when the port of Ploče reached more than 5 million tons of throughput. Throughput of goods in the port of Ploče for the year 2008 has reached the amount of 5.142.440 tons of various goods, which represents an increase by 22 % compared to the last year.

M/V “Zagreb” in the ownership of “Atlantska plovidba” Dubrovnik entered the port of Ploce on December 9 for discharging 67.208 tons of coal for Italian thermal power plants. The specifity of this event represents the fact that the port of Ploce is the first port of call for this vessel after her recent building in Chinese shipyard.

According to the announcement of MSC Croatia d.o.o., shipping agent of MSC - Mediterranean Shipping Co. S.A. Geneva, a new weekly container feeder service provided by shipping company MSC Geneva will start in port of Ploce in the beginning of August 2008.

Intensive investment activities are being carried out in the port of Ploče regarding the construction of the port terminals and quality improvement of the overall port infrastructure. Upon signature of the Contract between the Port of Ploče Authority and “Konstruktor Inženjering” d.d. Split in November 2007 for the Phase I of Container Terminal construction, the contractor commenced with civil works in the beginning of January 2008. 280-meter long operative quay with complete infrastructure will be built on a total land area of 38.000 m2, including RO-RO ramp, sea basin with a depth of 13,5 m for reception of container ships, and service-stacking area that will enable annual container throughput of 60.000 TEU
